James Logan serves as the President and CEO of the Wege Foundation, based in Grand Rapids, MI. The foundation’s mission is to plant seeds that develop leaders in economicology, health, education, and arts, enhancing the lives of people in West Michigan and around the world.
James manages the overall operations of the Foundation and engages the Board of Trustees and its committees to ensure they are well informed to make sound decisions for the Foundation. His nontraditional path to philanthropy has guided the development of his principles, strategies and values with a strong focus on underrepresented communities and equity.
He has nearly 20 years of experience with philanthropy and nonprofit entities. He previously served as a program officer with the Greater New Orleans Foundation, focusing on environmental justice, racial equity and workforce development.
Under Mayor Mitch Landrieu, James was the founding manager of the NOLA FOR LIFE Reentry Strategy, which streamlined employment and wraparound services for returning citizens transitioning out of incarceration. Before that he served as the project director of a national youth development nonprofit. In addition, James practiced as a community economic development and tax attorney. He is a proud native of Brooklyn, NY and a graduate of Fordham University School of Law and Loyola University Maryland. James is married to Tiffany Tate Logan, Esq. and they have two young sons.
